Java for Mac OS XA Java runtime environment must be installed before
installing jLog. Mac OS X 10.5 and 10.6 comes with one or
more Java Runtime Environments pre-installed. Mac
OS X 10.7 will propose to download Java after
installation. Note that
jLog V 5 requires Java 1.6 or newer. Apple
supplies this version only for Mac OS X 10.5 or newer. Mac
OS X 10.4 users may try the SoyLatte
Java. Frequent upgrades to the newest revision is recommended as this usually provides both visual and performance improvements as well as bug-fixes. Please note that you must install Java with Administrator privileges. Please note that if you install a new Java version, you
may
have to install the RXTX-files again (see the jLog
Application Download
page). Java updates for Mac OS X are downloaded and installed automatically using the Mac OS X Software Update. jLog can switch between different Java versions as described here.
Java for Mac OSThe final Java version for Mac OS 8.1 - 9.x is the MRJ 2.2.5 and it you need not worry about updates! You can read about it and download it here. The MRJ is based on Sun's very old JRE 1.1.8.
